A safe squirrel
...for Remy. Thank goodness he isn't able to get hold of the live squirrels that visit the back yard; the two-squeaker, soft toy version will do instead!
I think this is for me...yeah! |
Mom thinks I look so sweet when I do this... |
But this is more fun! |

For a dog, there's no time like the Present :-)
Remy inspired this little sketch. I was in my studio working away - going back and forth between a couple of mixed media pieces; my how time flies!
I heard a big s-i-g-h...Remy was sitting, giving me that look - the one that says, "I need some attention; let's go outside, PLAY, have some fun!...now, please".
How could I not?

Good word for a Monday :-)
Put some energy into Monday with this bit of word art:

Tiny is fascinating.
The first canvas I ever stretched was six feet square. Over the years I have worked on quite a few paintings at that scale; it’s incredibly freeing - physical, full of action, accidents and discovery. I love it.
But on the other hand, there is the intimacy of small. Working in a controlled way, but not so much that there is no life left. I
did some simple "drawings" on one-inch square pieces of card stock; here’s one:
So much fun watching my dog at play. |

I have some favorite words...
and this is one of them:
And also this one:
The appeal? Letter combinations, connotations, denotations perhaps the context in which I first heard the word.

With the wet...
come the flowers. A lot of rain the past few days. Hail yesterday morning - unusual.
Remy and I were on walkies and we spied a bit of color. This:
Time to investigate:
Remy really put his nose into it:
Okay, so he probably wasn't checking out the blossoms exactly :-)

Young Golden.
I was thinking about Remy when he was a young pup - not a baby, but that fleeting period where I could see the promise of what he would look like as an adult. However, he still had those big paws that he had yet to grow into and the occasional wayward movements of the young who are trying to get used to their ever changing, growing limbs! Adorable.
This is a sketch of another young Golden at that age:

I remember...
my first dance recital. I was eight years old. The night of the performance was so very, very exciting - the height of the stage, the lights, the energy and somewhere out there...the audience. It's an odd sensation - feeling the presence of so many people but not seeing anything past the footlights. But I loved it :-)

The happy squirrel
Remy has a new squirrel toy, the one with sixteen (!) squeakers.
It's his second one; his first squirrel has one remaining working squeaker and alas, Remy performed Golden retriever surgery on its head and other parts. Sad to say, it's quite a mess. The following photo is not for the faint of heart:
But now Remy's happy and his new squirrel looks pretty happy, too, don't you think? :-)
Modeled on a flying squirrel perhaps? |
Gruesome, huh. |
Smile. |
