Flying...more

Yes, another version of a "Picasso Dog" drawing and this time it's a horse.

Fly Boy

I do my best not to do any planning in advance as it defeats the spirit of a Picasso dog drawing. but I suppose do I have a particular breed in mind, though it's difficult to tell, huh?
So after turning the page around and around this dog made his appearance ;-)

More "Picasso"-ing

So I thought I'd use Carla's [www.carlasonheim,com] Picasso exercise on another of my favorite animals - Birds.
Presenting Picasso Bird:
I remember feeling this way after a particularly strong margarita; I probably looked a bit like this too :-)

Picasso Dog

Recently I've had many opportunities to work in the little sketchbook I always carry with me.  I've been amusing myself drawing "Picasso" dogs*.

So, from my sketchbook:
"Picasso" dog in pencil. I love this little guy :-)
* "Picasso" dogs are from an online class I took last year from Carla Sonheim  (www.carlasonheim.com) - her classes are terrific!

15 Second Stealth Sketch

Waiting for our table at a local restaurant, I sketched this fellow - the challenge? in less than 15 seconds and stealthily ;-)
Really fas-s-s-t gesture drawing!
When one draws really quickly, the "target" person or animal isn't even aware of being "captured" (heh-heh)

A before and after..

Here is a paint daub critter dog just after I "discovered" him in amongst the ink and paint. See?...he was in there somewhere :-)

Here he is tidied up; the extraneous ink and other media painted over with the background color:

Surprise...flowers :-)

Yes, I've been painting flowers...again. A couple of days ago, Remy and I walked through a park in the early evening that somehow inspired this piece.
I used some FW Pearlescent acrylic inks; they added a nice sheen here and there. Have a look:

I have some favorite words...

and this is one of them:

And also this one:
The appeal? Letter combinations, connotations, denotations perhaps the context in which I first heard the word.

A few strokes...

of watercolor, ink and gesso and a little dog is born :-)

I remember...

my first dance recital. I was eight years old. The night of the performance was so very, very exciting - the height of the stage, the lights, the energy and somewhere out there...the audience. It's an odd sensation - feeling the presence of so many people but not seeing anything past the footlights. But I loved it :-)

Put on your dancin' shoes.

An unplanned stop

I had planned to continue working on this piece but something said, "Stop", so I did.

What a morning it has been...

it's the weather. The feeling of Spring. Windows open, typing this whilst listening to the birds singing away. Sigh. So lovely.

Paint daubs

Randomly laid down several layers of water color and gesso. Some line work and this happy little guy appeared.

The persistence of...flowers :-)

I like working in my studio and occasionally glancing out the window at the blowing snow – it’s enjoyable because I’m inside happily painting away and the “weather” is outside.
So here’s what blossomed today:
They look a bit like flowers...

Snooze...

It's Sunday. Morning fun stuff done. Time for a snooze.
Sweet dreams.
