"Words, words, words."

Nothing as serious as in "Hamlet", it's just a phrase I think to myself when I'm selecting a specific word to scribble, like this:
To splatter ink is to have fun.

Today was a great day

for getting outside with Remy:
He's a bit impatient - he wants to get on with 'walkies'!
Checking out the pear tree blossoms:
Blossoms everywhere!
But then there's the NWS winter storm watch for tomorrow evening: snow...

What a morning it has been...

it's the weather. The feeling of Spring. Windows open, typing this whilst listening to the birds singing away. Sigh. So lovely.

Paint daubs

Randomly laid down several layers of water color and gesso. Some line work and this happy little guy appeared.

The persistence of...flowers :-)

I like working in my studio and occasionally glancing out the window at the blowing snow – it’s enjoyable because I’m inside happily painting away and the “weather” is outside.
So here’s what blossomed today:
They look a bit like flowers...

Fun in the April snow!

The snow has been falling since very early this morning. Remy is a snow loving Golden. See...?
Ahhh...
And even though it's cold and snowy, the robins are out and about singing - how wonderful is that?!

Snooze...

It's Sunday. Morning fun stuff done. Time for a snooze.
Sweet dreams.

A fish from a splash

I love to splash and spritz and fling watercolors onto paper. Some pretty interesting critters are born from the process :-)  Here, a fish...of some kind:

3-Step transformation

Give your blossoms a whole new...something.

1. Cut out.

2. Mount on foam core (or cardboard).

3. Hang.

Yay!

Moving blossoms from 2-D to 3-D came from Carla Sonheim's "Flower Crazy", the class I mentioned a few posts ago ( http://carlasonheim.com/flowercrazy.html ). The class was FUN and super messy - at least the way I did it!

Broad or stub italic?

Love this - the Pilot 78G. It's an inexpensive fountain pen. Mine has a broad nib (although I have heard it described as stub italic) and it's very smooth - no feedback or hard starts.
First scribbles.

Serious nibbage.

Poor little dudes...

Snowstorm - quelle surprise. Cold days with gusting winds. So we have robins fluffing out their feathers to retain warmth. Look at these two:
Br-r-r-r.
Meanwhile, back in my studio, it still feels like Spring! More flower blossoms not nearly done. I plan to cut them out individually.

Carried away...

creating imaginary flower blossoms:
I had intended to work for a few minutes embellishing the watercolors I had left to dry. However, some time later when I figured I was done with this, I realized the sun was setting. Where did the time go? I just love it when I am working and I have no notion of time passing.
Imaginary blossoms.

So what do I think of the blossom study? Some of them work as blossoms and others are more from outer space :-)

Paint brush drops...

add a little pen and ink work and a dab of charcoal:

Bootie time!

Walkies - yay! Bootie - boo! Paw injury that still hasn't healed makes it a necessity. Remy forgets all about it though if there is something "yummy" (you don't want to know...) to sniff.
Something has captured Remy's attention :-)

From negative beginnings, a surprise!

The challenge: create a painting using collage - for me, not a favored technique - and collage elements that I don't like.
Here it is:

I am pleasantly surprised :-)
