RONA Day

I've had to restrict my physical activity for 72 hours but today is RONA - Resumption Of Normal Activity - day.  Yippee!  Remy and I were able to sort of roughhouse and play our version of Tug O'War after breakfast and later we will go for walkies...finally!

This is a 15-second impressionistic sketch of Remy's demeanor during my (our) 72-hour down time.  He'd lay down with a sigh and look over at me with his puppy eyes:

He isn't a pushy dog.  He's cool and patient; and he has a 100 percent belief that something great is going to happen... next!

Snow Play

Another snow storm.  I enjoy watching the swirling snowflakes - especially when I am in my studio playing - snow light is a bit grey but bright and very even.  I have fun writing and doodling (I had intended to clean my work table to prep for some painting, but...)

I love writing on black paper.  With the variety of gels, paints, inks available in pens and markers well, I find doodling irresistible.  So here is the word:

Fairy tales' end

Carla's online class, 2014: Year of the Fairy Tale drew to a close this month.  A great experience, I enjoyed the class structure where there is a research period followed by drawing, painting and mixed media work.

Final fairy tale art: adding some color to the title page.

I benefited from this year-long class through exploration of techniques (new, old, experimental) so much so that I am eagerly awaiting "2015: Year of the...???"

Practicing "my" calligraphy with a new Gillott #303 nib...

and I like to change proportions, too. The letter height is too tall but I just like the way it looks :-)
