Cool paws

Remy likes to keep cool, too. He's found a great way to do it:
"Just let me snooze..."
Hmm, isn't that considerate?...he usually covers the entire vent with his front legs. As you can see, my half-hearted effort to keep Remy away from the vent with a chair hasn't worked. Over time it's been entertaining to observe his various efforts to achieve "full vent coverage" status :-)

A before and after..

Here is a paint daub critter dog just after I "discovered" him in amongst the ink and paint. See?...he was in there somewhere :-)

Here he is tidied up; the extraneous ink and other media painted over with the background color:

A different Teflon bone folder

This arrived in the mail last week - a Teflon bone folder. It has a shape that is different from from my other folders (this one is very ergo-friendly). Because it's made of Teflon, it doesn't leave marks when burnishing.

It works very well for me plus it looks sort of like a bird with a big beak - very cool. (I bought mine from www.volcanoarts.com )
Cool-looking bone folder and it's made of Teflon.

Surprise...flowers :-)

Yes, I've been painting flowers...again. A couple of days ago, Remy and I walked through a park in the early evening that somehow inspired this piece.
I used some FW Pearlescent acrylic inks; they added a nice sheen here and there. Have a look:

I am not sure what to call this one...

a benny? because I think he has a combination of bear and bunny elements. He started out as a paint daub, too!
Call me "Benny".

If it looks like a duck...

and I think this little critter does :-)
From a paint daub he arrived!

Flowers everywhere!

Walkies are so nice - I am outdoors walking with my Remy. He is such a happy Golden - looking and sniffing and checking out anything new on "his" turf. Bunnies eyeing us and baby birds wildly chirping.
Flowers are blooming everywhere. Remy sticks his entire face into them (!) whilst my appreciation is at a more conservative distance :-)
So inspiring - I completed this Planet-ary flowers painting:

Playing around

with Photoshop and my word art. I removed the background from the scan and applied a  violet background layer. Fun results.
Why "SUSPECT"? I usually think of it as an adjective and it's just another word I like :-)

Dip that nib

and do some fun calligraphy!
Here are two vintage nibs - part of an order I just received from www.pendemonium.com
When I use a fountain pen, I want a very smooth writing nib with little to no feedback. However, when I'm using dip nibs, I enjoy the sound of the scratch, scratch, scratch of the nib on paper. The sound can be surprisingly loud, too :-)
The Gillott #303 is very nice - very flexy. The Hunt #100 is just fabulous for flex!
Scratchy, but that's just how some dip nibs write.

Such fun to use this nib!

Beautiful evening

for walkies. Remy was being goofy; I think he liked the flowers best when he stuck his entire head in them for a good sniff!
A charming Golden boy.

Monday Bunny

It has been a bunny morning chez Cranna. Remy found a baby bunny in the back yard.

Remy was very, very excited. He was sort of nosing and pushing at something and when I saw clearly what it was I told him to "leave it"; he stopped. He was hovering over it and I said, "leave it" again and he moved away. I called Remy to me and he came (Good dog!!!) and he was rewarded with a high value treat and then another one!

Have you ever seen a baby bunny? This grey furball was maybe five inches long with a sweet face topped off with perfect little ears. He was so scared he was hunkered down and wasn't going anywhere. After Remy was back in the house, I went out to scoot the little baby away. He really didn't want to move to I sort of lightly touched his head and back with a dish towel until he turned and did a sort of slow motion hop away.

So here's a mixed media piece to celebrate Mondays (sometimes characterized as blue Mondays) and baby bunnies. A blue bunny...why not?
Happy!
