Smartphone monotype collages -

the most recent Year of the Spark lesson from Carla.

I used Golden OPEN acrylic paint for the first time and it was a happy experience, yay!  Because the working time is much longer than regular acrylic paint, my frustration of painting an image, refining it, and then pulling the print was greatly alleviated.

Printing was done on tracing paper (the other option was vellum) hence the overall gray-ness.

Recording the images with a smartphone has its limitations... at least the way I do it :-)  However, I appreciate the spontaneity of finishing the piece, taking the photo, and then calling it done.

Why all the fish? I was working on a monotype that needed a LOT of changes - color being the most critical:

So after I added more color to obscure the disconcerting red and yes, the muddy pink, I had something that reminded me of the sea. And then of course where were the fish and vegetation?...a nice opportunity to make some stamps for a specific piece:
