Another sketch of my Golden

Today's sketch -  this is of my Remy with one of his cute floppy toys:

A double dose of sweetness, huh?

Sketching my Golden

Remy and I have changed out walkies from early evening to early morning.  I think we both prefer it; the birds are active and singing and bunnies are hopping around everywhere :-)

And speaking of Remy, I did a sketch of my boy today.

He was laying down and something caught his attention:

Graphite

He is doing much better because no one has set off any firecrackers in a couple of days.  And as far as thunder, he appears to tolerate it a bit better.  However, lightning remains problematical.

Smartphone monotype collages -

the most recent Year of the Spark lesson from Carla.

I used Golden OPEN acrylic paint for the first time and it was a happy experience, yay!  Because the working time is much longer than regular acrylic paint, my frustration of painting an image, refining it, and then pulling the print was greatly alleviated.

Printing was done on tracing paper (the other option was vellum) hence the overall gray-ness.

Recording the images with a smartphone has its limitations... at least the way I do it :-)  However, I appreciate the spontaneity of finishing the piece, taking the photo, and then calling it done.

Doodling on the grid

Since taking Diane Culhane's class, "Doings of a Doodle", I have become more aware of the subject matter of my doodles.  I tend to draw critters and flora, favorite objects, and lots of patterns.

I have always doodled on bit of paper and on paper pads, Post-It® notes, etc., but rarely kept them.  But now, I also make an effort to use watercolor or bristol paper (better quality paper) or I grab a sketchbook (my doodles are conveniently collected for easy perusal).

A technique that I have adopted from Diane's class is doodling on a grid.  I am not sure why I find grids so appealing - perhaps because they become patterns, too.

Today my doodling led to this:

Working on a grid is satisfying :-)

I like that this is full of color.

Happy together

Remy is having a troublesome time with loud noises and the thunder that keeps rolling through at all times of the day and night.  Remy seems so down and it  just makes me sad that he is so sad.

The forces aligned yesterday.  The temperature was very pleasant, no thunder, no rain and Pam and Briggs were just heading out for some playtime.

We met up and the boys rumbled and chased around. We had a nice shady tree to sit under which was fabulous because I absolutely melt in direct sunlight.

Remy commandeered Briggs's tennis ball...

Remy loves his buddy, Briggs - they had an instant rapport when they met.  It's wonderful that they play so well together even though Remy outweighs Briggs by more than twenty pounds!

The sounds of firecrackers and thunder...

have made it a rough couple of weeks for my Remy.

I was thinking about him when I created this:

I wish he knew that it will get better...
